The Sound of OM • Part 2 | From OM to Collective Joy | Gurukul 8
The Sound of OM 🕉️ A Gurukul 8 Music in Minds – Chapter 3 📅 17 October 2026 📍 Kingston City Hall, Melbourne The Sound of OM was an immersive evening of Indian classical music, mantra, storytelling and collective experience, exploring OM not simply as a sound, but as a journey through consciousness, vibration, creation, transformation and stillness. Through music and story, the evening moved from the ancient Upanishadic understanding of OM to its expression through later mantra and Purāṇic traditions, culminating in a collective finale with the audience joining the artists in mantra and OM. PART 2 • From OM to Collective Joy Part 2 begins by bringing the entire room together through guided meditation and a collective OM. The story then moves into a Purāṇic lens on A U M: A • Brahmā • Creation The impulse to begin, imagine and bring something new into being. U • Viṣṇu • Preservation The principle of sustaining, balancing and protecting. M • Śiva • Transformation The process of dissolution, release and renewal. Music dedicated to Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva carries this journey before OM is explored as a purifier, a sound that gathers breath, attention and intention before sacred practice. The evening culminates in a rapid musical finale bringing together the full ensemble and audience through six mantras: Gayatri Mantra Sarva Mangala Mangalye Shantakaram Om Tryambakam Om Purnam Om Sahana Vavatu -- Artists Ranjitha Suresh Viraj Salvi Panduranga Torvi Prasad Karve Sid Saklani With our wonderful young artists joining the ensemble. Hosts and guides: Ekta Arora and Ash Dhareshwar Presented by Gurukul 8 as part of the Music in Minds series. Gurukul 8 is a modern gurukul for today’s hyperconnected world, creating spaces to pause, learn, reflect and reconnect with eternal wisdom. 🕉️ Your journey to wellbeing starts within. #TheSoundOfOM #Gurukul8 #MusicInMinds #OM #Mantra #IndianClassicalMusic #Meditation #Upanishads #Melbourne #digitalwellbeing #holisticwellbeing

The Sound of OM • Part 1 | From Sound to Stillness | Gurukul 8
PART 1 • From Sound to Stillness Part 1 begins with OM emerging through alap and a Ganesha invocation before exploring the four states of consciousness described through A U M and silence: A • Jāgrat • Waking Awareness turned outward into the world of experience. U • Svapna • Dreaming The movement inward into the world of mind and imagination. M • Suṣupti • Deep Sleep A state where the familiar world of thought and form becomes quiet. Silence • Turīya • The Fourth The still awareness beyond the three changing states. The journey then moves into the Nādabindu Upaniṣad and the image of OM as the Hamsa, the sacred bird, where sound gradually becomes subtler and attention moves toward inner stillness. Part 1 also includes devotional music honouring Saraswati and Durga, including Maa Shardhe Vidya Daye and Devi Durge Bhavani, connecting the evening with the spirit of Durga Puja. Artists Ranjitha Suresh Viraj Salvi Panduranga Torvi Prasad Karve Sid Saklani With our wonderful young artists joining the ensemble.
